The Full Story

Adrielle Reina

The short of it: Adrielle Reina is a spooky, kooky autistic lady from Appalachia. She studied biological anthropology and data engineering, but cursing her enemies and writing are her true passions. She has a cool son who often reminds her how uncool she is, five dogs, a cat, and a husband who looks like Nicholas Hoult (he’s also funny too). Legends say that she can be summoned with coffee, Pokémon, more dogs, horror movies/books, and the blood of those who wish her ill.

The long of it: Adrielle has been reading since she was four and writing her own stories since she was five. She got her Bachelor of Arts at Eastern Kentucky University, where she studied Anthropology and got her minor in Archaeology. Her focus was in biological anthropology and archaeology, but she took a creative writing elective under Carter Sickels, who helped to nurture her talent, as well as various classes around cinema. She was the first student at the university to get an internship with The Division of Fossil Primates at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. Because of Covid and a Lupus diagnosis, she had to pivot her career aspirations and used her degree to consult with the Department of Defense for better handling of cultural and biological resources, while also championing Indigenous sovereignty.

Due to budgeting cuts, she was let go and got her Master of Science in Data Analytics and Data Engineering from Southern New Hampshire University while pursuing a writing career and making perfume. She then moved to North Carolina to help her father run his small business and to be closer due to his own health issues.

Writing will always be her focus, however, and she continues to pursue it passionately.

She hates generative AI and doesn't use it in her creative process. Ever.
